The operators of the Control Centre in Dublin Port were having major issues with heat build up and intense glare on their computer screens and control panels. We were asked to come up with a solution that did not affect their ability to see out. After an initial consultation with the Operations Manager, Mr Paul Clarke we installed a sample of our premium exterior reflective film. We carried out a Thermal Stress Test on the glass and established that the glass was not compatible with an internal application of film so we decided to fit the film externally.
The key advantage of fitting the film on the outside was that the heat was reflected away at the outer surface of the glass and therefore never entered the glazing system. The Glare Reduction was in excess of 85% and the Solar Gain Reduction (Heat) was over 80%. Clarity has also been maintained which is obviously of paramount importance in this particular case. Because our installers were working on the outside of the building there was absolutely no disruption to staff.
The control room is now a far more comfortable place to work and the feedback from the client has been extremely positive, in fact we have now fitted this film to other buildings belonging to Dublin Port.
